Flight control surfaces, landing gear, gimbal tilt and payload mechanisms place conflicting demands on a servo: low weight, high reliability, clean control signals and enough torque margin. This page explains how we design and select servos for each requirement, and which models we recommend for integrators.
Four criteria apply to the whole airframe. Control surfaces — ailerons, elevators, rudders, flaperons and VTOL tilt mechanisms — add four more, because they depend on servos that respond fast, center precisely and behave consistently across every channel.
Every gram affects flight time and payload. Our UAV-oriented models range from 27 g CAN micro servos to heavy-duty units above 650 kg-cm for large platforms.
Control surfaces need torque headroom under aerodynamic load. We list stall torque as the selection baseline so you can size with margin.
CAN Bus reduces wiring on multi-servo airframes and returns position, voltage, current and temperature telemetry, so stall and overheat problems show up early. PWM remains available for simple integrations.
High-frequency vibration, humidity and temperature swings demand stable feedback, sealed housings and durable gears.
Low latency between command and surface movement, especially for agile multirotors, fixed-wing and VTOL transitions.
Small input changes should produce small, predictable output motion so the autopilot can hold a stable attitude.
Reliable centering keeps trim consistent and reduces constant corrective commands in flight.
Multiple surfaces on the same aircraft need matching speed, torque and centering to avoid asymmetric handling.
