A robot puts several axes on one control loop, so a servo is judged on more than torque. Bus wiring, node addressing, command latency and holding behavior all decide whether a mechanism tracks its target. The models below cover micro coreless units for small joints and CAN bus units for multi-axis frames. Where a specification is not published here, ask for it together with your load case and we will answer in writing.
Four criteria we apply when a servo is chosen as a robot joint.
A six-axis arm or a hexapod can carry a dozen actuators on one harness. CAN bus models take a programmable node ID and share a two-wire bus, so a controller addresses each joint over one run instead of one analog channel per joint.
Bus models report current, voltage and temperature per node. That lets a controller see a jammed joint or a sagging supply while the robot is still moving. Where the run is short and the controller has spare channels, PWM models remain the simpler option.
A joint that carries its own structure holds position for hours rather than seconds. We publish stall torque at each rated voltage so an axis can be sized against its worst-case position, and duty cycle is best confirmed with a sample in your own fixture.
Assembled robots mix actuators from different batches, so a drifting neutral point becomes a calibration step on every unit. Each servo is inspected before shipping, and batch data for a candidate model can be requested with a quote.
