Outdoor and marine mechanisms combine load with water, salt, dust and temperature swing, and sealing is where most of them fail. A gasketed housing is not the same as a rated enclosure, so this page states what we can document and what still has to be tested in your installation. The models below are the sealed variants of our brushless, coreless and standard-size lines.
Four questions to settle before a servo is exposed to weather or water.
Sealed models use a gasketed case with sealed shaft and cable exits, not a coating alone. We describe the sealing configuration for each model on request. IP test reports are still being compiled, so we will tell you what has actually been measured rather than quote a rating.
Moisture enters at the shaft, the cable exit and the case seams rather than through the housing wall. Those paths stay gasketed on sealed models, and the mounting orientation should be planned so water does not collect at the cable exit.
Salt water is conductive, and it usually affects connectors and mounting hardware before it affects the motor. Stainless fasteners, dielectric grease at contacts and a rinse schedule are standard practice on marine installations.
A sealed case is often slightly larger or heavier than the open unit of the same class. Weight and dimensions are published for every model so the sealed option can be checked against the space and trim budget of the hull or airframe.
